Solon Graduate Helps Spread Kindness Nationwide

Class of 2026 graduate Grant Lee is helping show how kindness can make an impact far beyond one person or one school.

Grant was recognized by Kindland with the Eric Scott Russell Student Kindness Award and co-hosted Kindland’s Kickoff for Kindness video presentation, which was viewed by more than 543,000 students in 1,400 schools across the country.

Grant shared that kindness is an important part of both his personal life and professional aspirations.

“I find kindness to be a core tenet in both my personal life and professional aspirations,” he shared. “It has been crucial in my cultivation of the relationships that motivate me to persist through sore calves, complex sheet music, and the defender in front of me in a pickup game.”

Grant will attend Case Western Reserve University in the fall and plans to double major in neuroscience and economics. As he looks toward the future, he said kindness also shapes the way he thinks about service and access to health care.

“As I take steps toward making healthcare more affordable and accessible, even a small dose of kindness in my interactions with the less fortunate has helped me tons in understanding the unique American healthcare problem and what needs changing,” he said.

Join the Kindness Challenge

Now, Solon Schools is inviting families, staff and community members to join in that same spirit by taking part in Kindland’s United States of Kindness challenge, a nationwide effort encouraging 250 acts of kindness in 2026 in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.

Kindness is a simple but powerful way to strengthen connection, build community and make a difference. Use the challenge board below for ideas, from writing a thank-you note and supporting a local business to helping a neighbor or donating to a food bank.
