STUDENT COUNCIL (STUCO)
STUDENT COUNCIL (STUCO)
Student Council is the student governing body at Solon High School, whose purpose is to promote school spirit and to provide cooperation and understanding between the students and faculty and between the students and the community. It is composed of Senior Executive Officers, Executive Members (senior non-officers), and general members. Students serve on and have the opportunity to chair various committees that plan whole-school events throughout the academic year. Students must meet lettering requirements and be active members in at least 2 committees to run for Executive Officer positions at the end of their junior year. Senior Executive Officers are required to attend weekly meetings and supervise and aid in all Student Council events. Other members are expected to attend one monthly meeting and be active as required by the chairs of their committees. The Council sponsors fundraisers, leadership retreats, and community service projects. Furthermore, it is also responsible for various school activities, including Homecoming, pep assemblies, and the Student vs. Faculty basketball game. Students work closely with the administration, teachers and the community. Student Council is open to all students.
